ISIS Are Coming: It’s Election Season

19th April 2017 / EU

By Graham Vanbergen: On 22 March 2017, a terrorist attack took place in the vicinity of the Palace of Westminster in London, seat of the British Parliament. The attacker, 52-year-old Briton Khalid Masood, drove a car into pedestrians on the pavement along the south side of Westminster Bridge and Bridge Street, injuring more than 50 people, four of them fatally. After the car crashed into the perimeter fence of the Palace grounds, Masood abandoned it and ran into New Palace Yard where he fatally stabbed an unarmed police officer. He was then shot by an armed police officer and died at the scene.

Police treated the attack as “Islamist-related terrorism”. Masood reportedly said in a final text message that he was waging jihad in revenge for Western military action in the Middle East. Amaq News Agency, which is linked to Islamic State, said the attacker answered the group’s calls to target citizens of states that are fighting against it, though the claim was questioned by the UK police and government. Police have found no link with any terrorist organisation.

The above two paragraphs are from Wikipedia. The entry is the result of Britain’s adventure in the Middle East. It’s so obvious really. These Islamic terrorists believe in a total war of civilisations. Nothing in their eyes has moved on from the medieval wars a thousand years ago. But in truth, their ideology is not that different from the ideology that created them in the first place.  An extreme form of neo-conservatism born in the USA pitches itself in a war where both sides want each other to fight to the very end – to the death – for profit and somehow we don’t expect a response.

The numbers of dead, injured and displaced in these countries are now biblical and we somehow don’t expect a response.

The establishment and broadcast media brag on their behalf of so-called precision targeting to take out individuals deemed a threat to the West without admitting the awful truth. Each drone attack kills an average 94 innocent civilians to each targeted kill, and somehow we don’t expect a response.

Islamic State has in recent times become physically weakened, they will want a higher level of recruitment. To achieve this they will simply create the anger in the West that marginalises young male Muslims.

France has its election in two parts on 23rd April and 7th May, Theresa May has called a snap election for June 8th and Germany is to hold their’s on September 24th.

Islamic State will use these events as an opportunity to generate that anger amongst Western populations. Muslims living in the West will become more isolated as a result driving them into the arms of ISIS. Acts of terrorism will likely significantly increase around these events and others that are iconic to modern democracies – even if they don’t mean much nowadays.

The government say they have thwarted many terrorist attempts – how true that is we will never know. One thing is for sure, ISIS will continue to try, they will ramp up their efforts during election cycles and will do so with devastating effect if our intelligence services are left wanting.
