Watch: Why Britain’s election won’t end the political chaos

Two events changed the course of Britain – The Iraq war and the bank-led financial crisis. The collapse in trust of political and economic leaders led to a rejection of the ruling consensus in 2016 when the public voted against established norms. Brexit has proven to be a broader breakdown of the government regime with political polarisation, nationalism and populism – creating even more chaotic situations and the beginning, not the end, of constitutional turmoil. But there’s more bad news for Britain’s economic future with both main political parties offering up solutions that have been emphatically trashed by experts and industrialists.
