Welcoming two new media partners

As regular readers of TruePublica well know, we have our sights firmly fixed on how democracy is being eroded in Britain. To that end, we are delighted to be partnering with mySociety and WhatDoTheyKnow.

mySociety provides technology, research and data that help people to be active citizens.  It is a not-for-profit social enterprise, based in the UK and working internationally.

They build online technologies that give people the power to get things changed and share these technologies so that they can be used anywhere.

WhatDoTheyKnow – helps members of the public to make Freedom of Information requests, it also publishes and archives those requests and responses, building a massive archive of information and has now recorded over 600,000 requests covering requests to 24,372 authorities.

Usefully, WhatDoTheyKnow shows you how to access information about central government, local government, Parliament, the NHS, the armed forces, state-funded schools and universities and other public authorities.

You can also use the site to find out information that regulators hold about businesses, charities and other organisations.

Last September we formally entered into a media partnership agreement with the United Nations – UN News and UN Video and the month before with Covering Climate Now an initiative that now includes more than 300 outlets worldwide, dozens of institutional and independent partners, with a combined audience of more than 1 billion people.

Since the relaunch of the TruePublica website six months ago, we have seen over 800,000 visitors access our content but this January alone, we’ve already racked up nearly 300,000 website visitors with a few days left in the month.

We have kept advertising on the website down to an absolute minimum and very grateful to those who have kindly donated. At a time where reporting the truth is critical, your support is essential in protecting it – the vast majority of our donors pay £12 to keep us going. It goes without saying that we are grateful to The European Financial Review
